Nothing will be surprising or unexpected, neither in the case of Levan Khabeishvili nor in other politically motivated cases, - Tina Bokuchava, the chairwoman of the United National Movement, said after the end of Levan Khabeishvili's trial.
As she explains, there should be a court in the country that will no longer issue "political verdicts".
"This case is completely absurd, arresting a politician for a public statement is a new and surprising standard, even for a dictatorship. With this standard, it is possible to imprison any person, any politician. However, in a country where Mdinaradze announces that people can be imprisoned for Facebook statuses and people are already imprisoned for standing on the sidewalk (including Nanuka Zhorzholiani, a journalist who was detained for 3 days yesterday), nothing can be surprising or unexpected, neither in the case of Levan Khabeishvili nor in other politically motivated cases. The main thing is for us to continue our organized, tireless struggle together with people, in order to bring good to this country, free our political prisoners and establish a court in the country that will never issue a single political verdict again," Bokuchava said.
