Levan Khabeishvili was reclassified on the charge and sentenced to 2 years and 6 months of imprisonment

The Chairman of the Political Council of the “United National Movement,” Levan Khabeishvili, and former Prosecutor General Murtaz Zodelava were found guilty by the court. The decision was delivered by Judge Irakli Khuskivadze.

In Khabeishvili’s case, the charge under Article 339 was reclassified to Article 318, Part 1 of the Criminal Code, and he was sentenced to 2 years and 6 months in prison.

Murtaz Zodelava was sentenced to 9 months of imprisonment.

The defendants, Levan Khabeishvili and Murtaz Zodelava, did not attend the verdict announcement.

According to the case details, Khabeishvili was accused of promising a bribe to an official for the commission of an unlawful act and of publicly calling for the overthrow of state authority. He was initially charged under Article 339, Part 2 of the Criminal Code, which concerns the promise of a bribe or money to an official for performing or refraining from an official act in favor of the bribe giver. He was also charged under Article 317, which involves public calls for the overthrow of state power.

Murtaz Zodelava was accused of unlawfully interfering in the activities of an investigator of the State Security Service and attempting to hide Khabeishvili’s mobile phone, which had been ordered to be seized under a court warrant, in order to obstruct a full and objective investigation.

Zodelava was charged under Article 364, Part 1 of the Criminal Code, which concerns unlawful interference in an investigator’s activities aimed at obstructing a full, comprehensive, and objective investigation.
