This is unfortunate and this is an unlawful decision and verdict,” said Maia Mumladze, lawyer of opposition politician and former Prosecutor General Murtaz Zodelava.

According to her, Judge Irakli Khuskivadze’s decision is illegal.

It seems they are afraid of setting a precedent of an acquittal,” said Maia Mumladze.

The Chairman of the Political Council of the “United National Movement,” Levan Khabeishvili, and former Prosecutor General Murtaz Zodelava were found guilty by the court. The decision was made by Judge Irakli Khuskivadze. Khabeishvili was sentenced to 2 years and 6 months in prison, while Zodelava received 9 months.
