Through the “Protect Iliauni” live stream marathon, 1,000,000 GEL has already been raised to help children with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. Several companies, including publishing houses and universities, have joined the fundraising campaign.
“One million! An amount that once sounded impossible. An amount that the Georgian people collected through love, unity, and solidarity. This one million lari means: ventilators, adapted beds and wheelchairs, medications, essential surgeries and massages, and most importantly - a chance for children with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy to continue their daily fight. This million is the people’s victory,” the organizers said in a statement.
The marathon continues live, and the stream will not stop as long as donations continue.
According to the organizers, the collected funds will support the daily needs of children with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, including ventilators and generators needed for their continuous operation, medications, adapted beds, wheelchairs, and various spinal surgeries.
