According to the Prosecutor's Office of Georgia, an employee of the Anti-Corruption Agency was found dead today in his own vehicle on Tabidze Street in Khashuri with a gunshot wound allegedly inflicted by his own firearm.

The agency stated that the Investigative Division of the Shida Kartli and Mtskheta-Mtianeti Regional Prosecutor’s Office has launched an investigation under Article 115 of the Criminal Code in connection with the death of the employee of the Anti-Corruption Agency of the State Security Service of Georgia.

“Relevant urgent investigative actions are underway,” the Prosecutor’s Office said.

Later, the State Security Service of Georgia released a statement expressing deep sorrow over the death of an “outstanding, worthy, and professional employee” of the Anti-Corruption Agency and extended condolences to the deceased’s family and relatives.

“His death is a tremendous tragedy and loss for us and for our service,” the State Security Service added.
