Members of the U.S. State Department delegation are meeting with representatives of the Georgian opposition

The delegation is holding talks with Grigol Gegelia, Foreign Secretary of “Strong Georgia - Lelo,” Levan Tsutskiridze, chairman of “Freedom Square,” and Anna Dolidze, leader of the party “For the People.”

As for the delegation itself, the visiting officials include Charles Yockey, Special Assistant and representative of the Office of the U.S. Secretary of State, and Peter Andreoli, representative of the U.S. State Department’s Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs.

Before the meeting, Grigol Gegelia stated that the repeated visits demonstrate continued U.S. interest in Georgia.

“This is the third visit within a very short period of time. It is an important signal that Trump has not gone anywhere; on the contrary, he is increasingly interested in ensuring political peace in Georgia and better protection of the national interests of both Georgia and the United States. This third visit to Georgia confirms that,” Gegelia said.

Meetings with other opposition parties are also planned.
