Papuna Lotsulashvili, who was physically assaulted by law enforcement officers in Gori, has been taken to the VivaMedi clinic.
As his lawyer, Lasha Tkesheladze, told InterpressNews, Lotsulashvili has multiple injuries.
"A medical examination will be conducted, as he has various, multiple injuries. It is necessary to check for concussion, etc.," the lawyer noted, explaining that his client has multiple injuries, both to the face and body, after being assaulted by police officers.
According to him, Lotsulashvili was questioned as a defendant and the defense is requesting that the case against him, which involves violence against a police officer, be discontinued.
"At this stage, he was questioned as an accused. First of all, I demand that the proceedings in this case be terminated - violence against a police officer, etc.
The second issue is to bring the perpetrators who tortured him to justice. An examination was conducted, but he could not testify because he needs urgent medical care - he could not speak, that is why we are now transferring him to VivaMedi in Tbilisi. We are transferring him with our own forces," the lawyer states.
"He was detained. He was questioned as an accused. I demand that the case be terminated immediately," the lawyer added.
According to the lawyer, Papuna Lotsulashvili was arrested under Article 353, which means resisting police officers with the aim of stopping their activities, with the threat of violence.
