According to one of the leaders of the “Coalition for Change,” defendant Nika Melia, Mikheil Saakashvili’s endless mudslinging and his periodic claims about alleged betrayal against him serve only one purpose: to conceal the specific story of entering into negotiations with the government in exchange for being allowed to leave the country — a matter that, according to Melia, deeply troubles Saakashvili for many reasons today.
As Melia writes in a letter sent from prison, the public will eventually learn “what kind of deal” was made with the government and who participated in the process.
“To soothe himself and ease his frustration, he has once again circulated a slanderous letter filled with lies, claiming that ‘Melia broke up the rally demanding my release and sent people home!’
Only someone who knows the truth dares to lie — and that is the case with Saakashvili. For Saakashvili, lies and shamelessness are ordinary; without them, he no longer exists. Still, perhaps he will find the strength to tell the truth about the gravest mistakes and human weaknesses he demonstrated throughout 2022. And when I speak of mistakes and weaknesses, I actually mean the gravest moral and political decisions he made.
He should also explain what issues he cooperated on throughout 2022 with ‘that man’ whom he refuses to name.
Why was ‘that man’ his envoy to the government in 2022 — including during the time he was in Vivamedi? Through this man, what kind of deal was made with the government, and how was Saakashvili ultimately ‘deceived’ at the end of 2022? The wider public will eventually learn these very serious details, along with concrete facts, and it would be better if he himself named that man and his partners.
Even after returning to Georgia, Saakashvili remained in active contact with ‘that man’ for many months. ‘That man’ was Saakashvili’s communicator with the government.
Saakashvili’s endless mudslinging and his occasional talk of supposed betrayal against him serve solely to cover up the concrete story of his negotiations with the government in exchange for being sent abroad — a story that clearly troubles him deeply today for many reasons.
He has a fear and a complex about that difficult chapter becoming public. Fear forces a person to lie. That is why he behaves so immorally and irrationally that even the devil could lose his footing. Saakashvili still carries the heavy moral, ethical, and political baggage of 2021–2022 on his back like a sack, even when he no longer notices its existence.
Saakashvili loves betrayal, but hates the betrayer whom he refuses to name!” Melia writes.
