I want to congratulate Nikol Pashinyan and the entire Armenian nation on a convincing victory of national interest. Russia has been defeated in Romania, Moldova, Hungary, and now also in Armenia, said Grigol Gegelia, Foreign Secretary of “Strong Georgia – Lelo.”
According to him, no major or powerful state, and no fraudulent system, can oppose the power of people united in favor of the national interest.
“Russia is losing across the entire region and will soon be defeated in Georgia as well through the removal of the shameful pro-Russian regime of the ‘Georgian Dream.’ Yesterday, not only democratic Armenia won, but democratic Georgia also won, because the two depend on each other for survival. Armenia, Romania, Hungary, Moldova — all these examples show that nothing can overcome the overwhelming power of the people. No major or powerful state, no fraudulent system, can resist the force of people united in defense of the national interest. It cannot be defeated by propaganda systems, nor by systems of lies, nor by political nihilism and despair. A nation that firmly defends its national interest always wins. The Armenian experience clearly shows that a truly pragmatic foreign policy, strengthening democratic institutions, efforts aimed at peace, and defending national interests through elections always produce real results.
While we celebrate Armenia’s victory, we must also note with regret that under the rule of the so-called anti–Georgian Dream government, Georgia has lost all regional advantages it once historically had. Yerevan has become the political center of the region, while Tbilisi has become a lagging and peripheral city. Armenia has hosted the U.S. Vice President, the U.S. Secretary of State, and all EU leaders, while Tbilisi hosts Gavrilov and Pozner. Armenians have demonstrated superiority in democratic standards, pragmatic foreign policy, attracting foreign investment, and receiving multi-billion economic and political packages.
The country that once declared itself a leader in the idea of a free Armenia and Azerbaijan, that was the creator of the Associated Trio and a political center of the South Caucasus, a leading republic — this regime has turned it into a lagging state both in the Associated Trio and in the South Caucasus.
We clearly see that Armenia is attracting high-quality investors and creating tens of thousands of new jobs, while in the meantime the de facto prime minister of this regime is destroying Anaklia and has been turned into a dealer of Arab apartments. This is one of the lowest and most shameful moments in Georgia’s history.
Meanwhile, just a few hours from Tbilisi, a model of pragmatic foreign policy, peace, and prosperity is truly operating under Pashinyan’s leadership. That is why proud Georgian citizens must unite and join Hungarians, Armenians, Moldovans, and Romanians in this great struggle for national interest and in defending the progressive achievements of humanity,” Gegelia said.
For context, according to updated preliminary results presented by the Chair of the Armenian Central Election Commission, Vahagn Hovakimyan, the ruling “Civil Contract” party received 49.81% of the vote, the “Armenia Alliance” received 23.281%, and the “I Have Honor” alliance received 9.934%. The “Prosperous Armenia” party led by Gagik Tsarukyan received 3.996% and failed to cross the 4% threshold required to enter parliament.
