Grigol Gegelia - The House of Representatives Act is proof that the US is deepening its strategic interest in Georgia and at the same time realizing that under the Dream regime, Georgia has become a springboard for hostile regimes

This is clear proof that the US is deepening its own strategic interest in Georgia and at the same time realizing that under the Dream regime, Georgia has become a springboard for hostile regimes, - Grigol Gegelia, Foreign Secretary of Lelo - Strong Georgia, stated at the briefing, responding to the act adopted by the House of Representatives.

According to Gegelia, a similar entry to the new act adopted by the House of Representatives was made in the National Defense Authorization Act, through which legislators practically directly instruct the US executive branch, the White House, the Pentagon and other institutions to take special control of the situation in Georgia.

“Instead of settling with Trump, the Dream has taken a heavy blow from the US Congress.

The act, supported by an absolute majority in the House of Representatives, instructs the US State Department, intelligence and defense agencies to submit a secret report on the penetration and possible cooperation of Russian and Chinese intelligence services in Georgia. This is clear evidence that the US is deepening its strategic interest in Georgia and at the same time realizing that under the Dream regime, Georgia has become a springboard for hostile regimes.

The regime’s propaganda claimed that they could normalize with America, but today we see that this regime is perceived by the US as a source of security risks. Most importantly, the act was supported by an absolute majority of representatives from both parties.

The harsh assessment of the chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee that “the selection of a Chinese consortium for the [Anaklia] large-scale deep-sea port development project…” carries threats and risks to Georgian and American national interests was significant. This is one of the highest-level statements regarding Anaklia and the Middle Corridor.

This is yet another confirmation that America is deeply interested in the development of the Middle Corridor and Anaklia, Georgia’s inclusion in the Trump Prosperity and Peace Road, the security of the Black Sea Basin, and the economic and political stability of the region.

Importantly, a similar provision to the new act adopted by the House of Representatives was made in the National Defense Authorization Act, through which lawmakers practically directly instruct the US executive branch, the White House, the Pentagon, and other institutions to take special control of the situation in Georgia,” Gegelia said.

For information, the US House of Representatives has passed the Countering China’s Control of the Caucasus Act. The bill was introduced in the US Congress on February 24, 2026.

The bill was introduced by US Congressmen Joe Wilson (Republican Party) and Steve Cohen (Democratic Party).

This bill requires the Department of State to submit a classified report to Congress that examines Russian and Chinese influence and intelligence activity in Georgia.
