8 persons accused in October 4 case have been released based on plea agreement

On October 4th, 8 persons accused in connection with the events that took place near the Atoneli Palace - Eva Shanshiashvili, Aleksandre Gogoladze, Gocha Katashvili, Sulkhan Abralava, Ramaz Jorbenadze, Jandri Tirkia, Genadi Kelikhashvili and Dato Gutskaya - signed a plea agreement.

All of them have been released from the courtroom, except for Eva Shanshiashvili, as she was already free on bail.

The plea agreement reached between the parties was approved by Judge Jvebe Nachkebia.

All eight individuals were given a 3-year suspended sentence.

The prosecutor's office agreed to a plea bargain with the above-mentioned individuals after they pleaded guilty and made the evidence undeniable.

There were 15 defendants in the above-mentioned episode, however, 7 of them - Dr. Giorgi Chakhunashvili, Ia Darakhvelidze, Zakro Albutashvili, Davit Zhgenti, Konstantine Kokaia, Kakhaber Mzhavanadze and Davit Sturua - did not plead guilty. Accordingly, they did not sign a plea bargain, which is why Judge Giorgi Gelashvili will continue to consider the case of the above-mentioned defendants.

For information, those detained in connection with the events of October 4 - Eva Shanshiashvili, Aleksandre Gogoladze, Gocha Katashvili, Sulkhan Abralava, Ramaz Jorbenadze, Jandri Tirkia, Genadi Kelikhashvili and Dato Ghutskaia - were charged under Article 19-222, Part 2, Subparagraph “a” of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which refers to an attempt to seize and block objects of strategic and special importance committed by a group. They have also been charged under Article 225, Part 2 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which refers to participation in group violence.

In total, 64 people were held criminally liable in connection with the events of October 4. At this stage, plea agreements are being signed for 22 people, 7 of whom were released from the courtroom today.
