We are quite proficient in the technical side, as soon as we start talking about political issues, we are armed with quite serious arguments - as Shalva Papuashvili said, the topic of visa liberalization loses its meaning altogether if the country is destroyed and devastated, - the First Vice-Speaker of the Parliament, Gia Volski, told journalists.
According to him, the arguments of the Georgian side regarding visa liberalization are solid.
"In the technical side, which is no less important, we are quite well-organized and have good indicators in all directions. As soon as the discussion on the political topic begins, which we welcome, we are armed with quite serious arguments. The main demands are: the issue of visa liberalization, the issue of foreign policy, and the issue of repealing certain laws. If all this is not acceptable to us, it is considered by them as disinformation and a campaign against Europe. Our arguments regarding these issues are solid and I think the picture created for the public is quite clear.
There are 4 issues with which the attack is being carried out in relation to Georgia. We have a fairly solid position regarding all four of these issues. It is important for us that our society, no matter what its political taste, understands well what issues are being discussed. For example, the abolition of visa liberalization with certain countries with which the European Union does not have visa liberalization, is of strategic importance for us and is directly related to economic issues. Our position is not to interfere in the declaration of sanctions and even in the process of military confrontation, and we will not change this in any way. Otherwise, the country will collapse, and then, as Shalva Papuashvili said, the issue of visa liberalization will lose its meaning altogether if the country is destroyed.
As for disinformation about Europe - we cannot agree with this, since in European countries themselves, during open debates in the European Parliament, certain criticism is often heard. We should look reality in the eye. As for our aspirations, in general, the process of European integration - for us this is one of the topics of pride, since the overall statistical indicators we have are better than those of many EU member states. Among them are justice, democracy, the fight against crime, government transparency, etc. So, our positions are correct, if, of course, we add to this the circumstances that have been created in the world. Of course, the threat still exists. There is a confrontation between us and Brussels on this issue, and if there is a fight of arguments, of course, we have a good position," Volski said.
For information, a meeting will be held today within the framework of the visa dialogue between the European Union and Georgia.
