Georgia’s tech community reached a significant milestone on May 14th as Tbilisi hosted the country’s first official Laravel Meetup - an event that brought together over 100 developers, engineers, and technology leaders under one roof to explore the future of web development with one of the world’s most widely used open-source frameworks.
The meetup was organized by Redberry, Georgia’s leading software development agency and one of only a handful of companies in the world to hold official Premier Laravel Partnership status - the highest tier of recognition awarded by the Laravel core team. The distinction places Redberry alongside a small group of global agencies trusted to represent the Laravel ecosystem at the highest level, making the company a natural home for this landmark event.
Laravel powers millions of applications worldwide and has become the framework of choice for businesses building robust, scalable web software. Until now, Georgia had no official presence in the global Laravel community circuit. May 14th changed that.
“This meetup marks something bigger than a single event,” said Gaga Darsalia, CEO of Redberry. “It is the beginning of an active, connected Laravel community in Georgia - one that participates in the global conversation, not just follows it from a distance.”
The event drew an enthusiastic crowd of over 100 attendees, reflecting the depth of local interest and the maturity of Georgia’s developer community.
The event featured three talks from a lineup that brought together local engineering leadership and voices from the international Laravel community.
Revaz Ghambarashvili, AI Lead at Redberry, opened the meetup with “Evaluation of AI Agents in Laravel” - a talk built around a challenge that every developer working with AI is beginning to encounter: AI agents don’t fail the way traditional software does. They hallucinate, pick the wrong tool, lose context, and behave inconsistently - and none of it appears in your logs. Redberry is also the official company behind LarAgent, an open-source AI Laravel package that brings agent-based functionality natively to the Laravel ecosystem.
Irakli Shengelia, Senior VP of Engineering at Prime Insights, followed with “Laravel Can’t Scale” - a deliberately provocative title designed to raise a few eyebrows, and then settle them right back down.
Harris Raftopoulos, Staff Writer and Educator at Laravel News and co-organizer of Laravel Greece Meetup, closed the program with “Bulletproofing Your Laravel Code with Value Objects” - a session focused on a foundational but frequently overlooked pattern for writing predictable, maintainable code. Raftopoulos’s participation also underscored the event’s significance: the presence of a core Laravel News contributor and an established meetup organizer from the international community signals Georgia’s arrival on the broader Laravel map.
Founded in 2014, Redberry is Georgia’s largest and most awarded software development agency, with over 200 experts and more than 300 completed projects built predominantly on Laravel and Vue.js. The company holds official Premier Laravel Partnership status - one of only a few agencies globally to receive this recognition from the Laravel core team. Redberry’s work spans complex enterprise platforms, SaaS products, and AI-integrated applications serving clients across Europe, the USA, and beyond, with particular depth in fintech, wealthtech, and highly regulated industries.
In addition to client work, Redberry actively contributes to the Laravel ecosystem through open-source development, including as the official company behind LarAgent, and through community initiatives including the Laravel Bootcamp Georgia - an intensive training program that has graduated over 120 developers, the majority of whom are now employed in the Georgian tech industry.
