Irakli Kobakhidze: Georgia considers Kyrgyzstan not only a significant and reliable partner, but also a Friendly State - We discussed a broad Range of areas of cooperation

“Georgia considers Kyrgyzstan not only a significant and reliable partner, but also a friendly state. We discussed a broad range of areas of cooperation between Georgia and Kyrgyzstan,” Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said after meeting with President Sadyr Japarov.

According to him, the visit to Kyrgyzstan is historic in nature.

“Although our peoples and countries are connected by close historical ties, as has been noted, this is the first visit at the highest level between our countries. It can confidently be said that, in essence, this visit is historic. I hope and am convinced that it will give new momentum to bilateral relations between Georgia and Kyrgyzstan.

We had a very interesting and substantive discussion with our colleagues regarding bilateral relations. We also addressed various issues on the regional and international agenda. It is noteworthy that the President of Kyrgyzstan and I signed a joint statement, along with bilateral documents that will create favorable conditions for closer cooperation in the future.

I would like to thank our friends for their warm hospitality at the highest level. This year, Kyrgyzstan marks the 35th anniversary of its independence, and I would like to extend my sincere congratulations and wish you and the Kyrgyz people peace and prosperity.

I would also like to express our gratitude for Kyrgyzstan’s firm, unconditional, and consistent support for Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Given the existing political and economic relations, Georgia views Kyrgyzstan not only as an important and reliable partner, but also as a friendly state. As I have already mentioned, this is based on the strong historical friendship established between our peoples and countries.

Within the expanded-format meeting, we discussed a broad spectrum of Georgia–Kyrgyzstan cooperation, as well as issues of regional and global importance. While reviewing the bilateral agenda, we placed particular emphasis on trade and economic cooperation and the importance of its further development. It was noted that this cooperation has tremendous potential.

We are pleased that the second session of the Georgia–Kyrgyzstan Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation was held in parallel with the visit. It was a very timely meeting, giving both sides the opportunity to thoroughly discuss ways to increase trade and economic interaction between the two countries.

In addition, we discussed Georgia–Kyrgyzstan cooperation within international organizations. We are confident that our productive cooperation in this area will continue in the future.

I would also like to congratulate the President and the entire Kyrgyz nation on their historic success at the United Nations. As a result, Kyrgyzstan will serve as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council for 2027–2028,” the Prime Minister said.

According to Kobakhidze, the meeting also covered prospects for cooperation in transport and logistics.

“We emphasized the importance of developing the Middle Corridor and the need to intensify efforts to support its development and attract additional cargo flows.

We are closely following the implementation of the China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan railway project and are pleased that it is progressing rapidly. Naturally, this project will further strengthen connectivity between Central Asia and our region.

For its part, Georgia is making significant investments in developing its transit function. Overall, we believe these processes will substantially contribute to the further development of trade and economic relations both between the regions and between our two countries.

We also discussed the importance of deepening cooperation in tourism and increasing bilateral tourist flows. This is important both from an economic perspective and for the further development of ties between our peoples.

It was noted that launching direct flights between Georgia and Kyrgyzstan would further promote tourism cooperation between our countries.

We consider it important to maintain high-level and top-level visits between Georgia and Kyrgyzstan, as well as continuous dialogue. I invited the President to visit Georgia at a time convenient for him, and we hope that this visit will take place soon.

I am confident that our relations will continue to develop at an even faster pace for the benefit of the peoples of our countries and our shared interests,” Kobakhidze stated.
