He stated that it is unfortunate that the issue of visa liberalization is being used for pressure and blackmail in political processes, referring to discussions held in Brussels regarding visa-free travel.

As he noted, Georgia seeks a fair approach.

“In general, I think the overall picture is clear to everyone. We are open to dialogue in all directions, including issues that were discussed in Brussels specifically regarding visas. Our responses are very clear and unambiguous. Everything else is politics. We hope that, in the end, approaches within the European bureaucracy will change and a fair attitude will be established toward the Georgian people, our state, and our country. We have answers to all questions and are absolutely open to dialogue.

It is unfortunate that the issue of visa liberalization is being used for blackmail. At one point, we effectively closed off all channels for a blackmailer. Only one theoretical instrument remained—visa liberalization—and certain forces are trying to use this instrument to exert pressure on the Georgian people and our state. This is the wrong approach. We want a fair approach, and this is the message we are communicating to our European partners,” Kobakhidze said.
