The Ministry of Internal Affairs responds to the information spread by TV Pirveli, which reflects the fact of violence committed by police officers.

As the agency explains, the aforementioned crime was revealed in February of this year by the General Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia, and an investigation was launched based on the materials sent, and on February 23, 2026, all three police officers were detained as defendants by the Prosecutor's Office of Georgia.

"A TV company broadcasted a teaser that depicts the fact of violence committed by police officers. The case concerns three employees of the Imereti Police Department who were on a business trip to Kobuleti, Adjara region, in the summer of 2022, who committed the crime depicted in the footage.

The said crime was exposed in February of this year by the General Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia, and an investigation was initiated based on the materials sent, and on February 23, 2026, all three police officers were detained as defendants by the Prosecutor's Office of Georgia.

We are aware that the journalists who broadcast the info teaser have this information, however, they deliberately did not include the said information in the teaser, which is aimed at deliberately discrediting the Ministry of Internal Affairs," reads the statement.

For information, TV Pirveli teaser for Nodar Meladze's Saturday depicts the fact of violence committed by police officers. According to the TV company, the police officers were filming the violence and sending it to a common chat.
