The Special Penitentiary Service responds to the statement of Shota Tutberidze, the lawyer of Droa leader Elene Khoshtaria, who spoke about the deterioration of the politician's health condition.

According to the agency, Elene Khoshtaria is provided with all appropriate conditions in the Women's Penitentiary Institution N5 and is receiving all services without hindrance, including medical services.

According to them, Khoshtaria has been consulted by a cardiologist, neurologist, ophthalmologist, gynecologist, psychiatrist and rheumatologist. She has undergone a number of examinations, including an MRI of the spine and spinal cord.

According to the Special Penitentiary Service, Khoshtaria has another consultation with a rheumatologist scheduled for today.

Elene Khoshtaria is provided with all appropriate conditions in the Women’s Penitentiary Institution and enjoys all services, including medical services, without hindrance.

The absolute majority of Elene Khoshtaria’s diagnoses had been established before her placement in the institution and they are chronic diseases, which are characterized by periodic exacerbations. She does not complain or express dissatisfaction with the medical staff. She is provided with all necessary medical services. There has been no deterioration in her health condition in any way or form.

The convict has been consulted by a cardiologist, neurologist, ophthalmologist, gynecologist, psychiatrist and rheumatologist. She has undergone a number of examinations, including MRI of the spine and spinal cord.

The convict had her last consultation with a rheumatologist on June 5, 2026, a recommendation was issued and appropriate tests were performed. Treatment was prescribed in accordance with the current guidelines and protocols.

Since the date of her admission to the institution, there have been no requests from the convict or the lawyer defending her interests regarding medical services or additional tests.

The convict refused to have a repeated consultation with a rheumatologist. The next consultation is scheduled for today, June 17, 2026, to which the convict did not express any contradictory position.

The service responded appropriately to the application submitted by the convict's lawyer. He was immediately provided with information about the convict's health condition. As for the meeting, the lawyer of Elene Khoshtaria, as well as any accused/convicted person, meets without hindrance with both the director of the penitentiary institution and the medical staff responsible for treatment. The Special Penitentiary Service once again expresses its readiness for an additional meeting.
