On June 16, 2026, the Investigation Department of the Tbilisi Prosecutor’s Office launched an investigation into the fact of false accusation under Article 373, Part 1 of the Criminal Code of Georgia.

According to the Prosecutor’s Office, the investigation was launched based on the application of the lawyers defending the interests of film director Giorgi (Goga) Khaindrava regarding the alleged commission of a crime against Giorgi (Goga) Khaindrava by the TV company Formula.

"Film director Giorgi (Goga) Khaindrava was questioned as a witness by the investigative body. All necessary investigative and procedural actions will be carried out, the results of which will be provided to the public with additional information," reads the statement.
