The Government of Georgia has released a joint communiqué issued by Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze and President of the Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon.
According to the communiqué, Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze paid an official visit to Tajikistan on June 19-20, 2026.
The document emphasizes the significance of the visit.
“During negotiations held in an atmosphere of trust and mutual understanding, the parties underlined the importance of the visit, which opened a new chapter in the history of bilateral relations between Tajikistan and Georgia.
Relying on the strong historical ties and centuries-old friendship between the peoples of the two countries, reaffirming the validity of the Protocol on the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between the Republic of Tajikistan and Georgia signed on August 4, 1994, and convinced that the consistent strengthening of interstate relations and mutually beneficial cooperation serves the long-term interests of both countries, while also seeking to deepen partnership and enhance cooperation within international organizations of which both Tajikistan and Georgia are members, the parties declare the following:
The Republic of Tajikistan and Georgia reviewed the current state and prospects of bilateral relations and expressed their firm commitment to strengthening and expanding friendship between the peoples of the two countries. Guided by the principles of respect for sovereignty, equality, and mutual benefit, the two states will continue to develop relations based on trust and mutual respect.
The parties expressed interest in further strengthening political contacts at all levels. In this context, they particularly emphasized the need to activate the activities of the Tajikistan-Georgia Parliamentary Friendship Group,” the document states.
In addition, according to the communiqué, the parties reaffirmed their readiness to deepen cooperation across a wide range of sectors, including the economy, trade, investment, transport, transit, and agriculture.
The document further notes that both sides believe interstate relations between the two countries currently possess significant potential and broad prospects for dynamic development.
“The parties reaffirmed their readiness to comprehensively deepen cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, investment, transport, transit, and agriculture, as well as in science and education, culture, tourism, healthcare, sports, and youth policy.
The parties expressed confidence that interstate relations between the two countries currently have enormous potential and broad prospects for dynamic development.
The parties also confirmed that further deepening foreign policy cooperation based on mutual support on key issues of the international agenda constitutes one of the important elements of interstate dialogue between Tajikistan and Georgia,” the communiqué states.
