Maka Botchorishvili on Council of Europe draft resolution - This is another attempt to use international institutions for political purposes

This [the draft resolution of the Council of Europe] is another attempt to use international organizations, international institutions for political purposes, which small groups have in relation to Georgia, - Georgian Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs Maka Botchorishvili told journalists about another resolution of the Council of Europe.

She noted that such decisions may be used for political purposes.

“They are doing everything they can to ensure that the narratives regarding Georgia, which have been recorded in a number of resolutions, are voiced as much as possible in all institutions and adopted in the form of various resolutions. This is exactly how attempts are being made to use international organizations as a political tool. We have seen this in various institutions: we constantly see it in the European Parliament, we see it in the Council of Europe, there was an attempt to use it in the OSCE as well - you remember the launch of the “Moscow Mechanism” regarding Georgia,” said Maka Bochorishvili.

The Minister also noted that such a practice is unacceptable and this issue is being actively discussed with Georgia’s international partners.

“We are talking about this with our partners, emphasis is placed on this very often, and it is completely unacceptable when the trust in international institutions is shaken by such methods,” said the Minister of Foreign Affairs.
