Officers of the Central Criminal Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs have arrested 8 people on charges of illegal purchase and storage of large quantities of narcotic drugs, as well as facilitating their import into Georgia and sale.

Among the detainees are citizens of Georgia, Turkey and Japan.

As a result of the search of the defendants' personal and residential homes, as well as during the investigative experiment, law enforcement officers seized a particularly large amounts of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances prepared for sale, including: "cocaine", "methadone", "buprenorphine", "methamphetamine", "opium", "amphetamine", "marijuana", the plant "cannabis" and up to 300 tablets of "pregabalin".

As a result of the investigative actions, the police also seized materials necessary for the packaging of narcotics.

The crime is punishable by up to 20 years or life imprisonment.
