The Opposition Alliance has issued a statement regarding the health of one of its leaders, Elene Khoshtaria.

The Alliance holds the Georgian Dream party fully responsible for the health of the opposition politician.

“Elene Khoshtaria has been in political captivity of the Ivanishvili regime for the tenth month. She is serving an illegal sentence under the pretext of the inscription on Kakha Kaladze’s election banner. In reality, the regime does not forgive her for her uncompromising struggle for freedom, resistance, non-recognition of the illegitimate government and solidarity. This has been confirmed by the regime’s representatives in public statements.

In recent months, Elene’s health condition has been continuously deteriorating. She has chronic pain that cannot be managed in prison conditions. Constant pain in a prison is tantamount to torture.

The regime’s representatives are lying when they claim that Elene is receiving the necessary medical care. In reality, she is deprived of systemic, result-oriented treatment, and this is confirmed by the constant deterioration of her health condition.

Each representative of the penitentiary system who has a responsibility regarding Elena’s health should understand that refusing necessary treatment is a criminal offense. Also, each representative of the Russian regime should know that they will face political and legal responsibility for intentionally harming Elene’s health.

We express our full support to our comrade-in-arms, the leader of the Droa party, Elene Khoshtaria. It is clear to us that the only way to improve Elene’s health is to transfer her to a civilian clinic for complex examinations, confirmation of the diagnosis and systemic treatment.

We declare that full responsibility for Elene’s health lies with Ivanishvili’s Russian regime. We will fight for the freedom of every political prisoner and Georgia until victory!
