Giorgi Pataridze, Director General of the Special Penitentiary Service, states that instead of assessing the real state of health of the leader of the Coalition for Change, talking through briefings is "the theater of the absurd".
Pataridze notes that if the case continues with public statements, he will be forced to take "other steps", although at this stage he is protecting the interests of the convict.
"Until we assess the real situation together with her treating doctor, this is, I will repeat once again, truly a theater of the absurd because talking through briefings, when a doctor comes out and says that a person is experiencing, so to speak, terrible pain, and at this time you talk through briefings to the penitentiary service, I think that this is simply, I don't know, lacking in everything. I will tell you by way of a hint that for some reason, even in 2026, probably around February, I remember a completely different position from the convict Elene Khoshtaria. I remember a completely different position from her. You will understand this yourself. I will tell you this later. If we continue talking through briefings again and do not move on, so to speak, to some specific case, and to the management of specific processes, then I will already be forced to take other steps. However, I am protecting the interests of the convict in this case, remember this," said Giorgi Pataridze.
