Iranian media: It is expected that Mikheil Kavelashvili will also attend the funeral ceremony of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, leading the official delegation

High-ranking officials and high-level delegations from various countries will attend the funeral ceremony of Iran’s former leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, - reports the Iranian news agency WANA News.

According to the publication, Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili is also expected to attend the funeral ceremony, where he will lead the official delegation.

WANA News writes that Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, Turkmenistan’s President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow, and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan will also travel to Iran to participate in the funeral ceremony.

According to the planned schedule, after ceremonies in Tehran and Qom, the body of the deceased leader will be taken to four cities in Iraq, then returned to Iran and buried in Mashhad. The publication notes that some foreign officials and pilgrims who had initially planned to attend the ceremonies in Iran have decided to participate in the events in Iraq.

According to the official schedule, the public farewell ceremony will begin on July 4 at 6:00 AM at Imam Khomeini Mosque in Tehran and will continue until 8:00 PM on July 5. The funeral prayer will be held on the morning of July 5. After the ceremonies in Tehran, Qom, and Iraq, the deceased leader will be buried in Mashhad on Thursday, July 9.
