As it seems, they don’t even have one lawyer around to tell them that it cannot be linked to official activities, - this is how Vice Prime Minister, State Minister for Coordination of Law Enforcement Bodies Mamuka Mdinaradze responded to the confrontation that took place in Parliament on June 26.

According to him, the first to swing his hand to hit was “Gakharia For Georgia” MP Giga Parulava, and he was the first to start insulting.

“Of course, a fight is never a pleasant sight. There is no normal and sane person who enjoys watching a fight. Over these days, we have seen constant speculation about this. I want to highlight a very interesting fact - have you ever heard of a precedent in the world where an investigation was launched because of a fight that took place in parliament? Unless, of course, people have some degree of bodily injury, etc. Including in Europe and other countries - have you ever heard of anyone being held accountable for a fight in parliament? This may be good or bad - we can discuss that, but it happens because the factor of immunity comes into play here.

For at least decades, the practice has been established worldwide that investigations are never launched for fights that occur in parliament, and even if they are, no one is held accountable. For some people, the response to insults and a slap is disgusting, and personally, I was the object of a sneaky, rat-like slap, but we didn’t see the same emotion. Imagine that personally against me, we saw a sneaky, rat-like slap, and then some people got angry at the person who hit the attacker, saying ‘how dare he hit that person.’ They even justified it. If we are talking about morality, let’s also talk about how all this happened. Sharashidze came out to speak, received an order to provoke and pick on someone. He came in, started an insulting speech against the Prime Minister - besides a verbal response, he received nothing, and then the second one, Parulava, started a physical and verbal confrontation. He [Giga Parulava] was the first to swing his hand to hit, he was the first to start insulting - he received a regrettable response, and now they are demanding accountability for it. Now, when they themselves started the provocation, verbal insults, they themselves were the first to swing their hand, and on top of that they are complaining that ‘we were performing our official duties.’ Then let Parulava say that swinging a hand, hitting, and insulting someone’s mother is his official duty. As it seems, he has been assigned this obligation by Gakharia. A normal, sane person with any proximity to jurisprudence would probably not do such stupidity,” Mamuka Mdinaradze stated.
