Georgia is hindering the achievement of an agreement on the non-use of military force, - this was stated by the de facto Foreign Minister of occupied Abkhazia, Oleg Bartsits, after the 67th round of the Geneva International Discussions.

“Georgia is making it impossible to make progress toward our most important goal - reaching an agreement on the non-use of military force. The Abkhaz side does not allow any alternative to the peaceful and constructive resolution of all issues existing between our countries. This approach is fully justified and is based on our historical-legal foundations and the existing reality. A certain status quo has been established in the South Caucasus region, and we call on all participants in the Geneva Discussions to take this into account,” Bartsits stated.

According to him, “Georgia’s position has always been distinguished by deviation from political and historical-legal reality, and the Georgian side continues to insist that Abkhazia is occupied by the Russian Federation, and by doing so makes it impossible to make further progress toward reaching an agreement on the non-use of force.”

“We put forward this issue in a completely substantiated manner: the Republic of Abkhazia and the Republic of South Ossetia are two sovereign and independent states that are neighbors of Georgia. Everyone will have to take this reality into account. Russia also holds exactly this position,” the de facto Foreign Minister noted.
