Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili met with the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian.
The President’s administration has released information about the meeting.
“At the meeting, the President once again expressed condolences for the tragic events that took place in Iran and paid tribute to the memory of the deceased. During the meeting, the existing good-neighborly relations between Georgia and Iran and the bilateral cooperation agenda were discussed. Attention was paid to the importance of establishing peace and stability in the region.
The sides emphasized cooperation between Georgia and Iran based on mutual respect, consideration of each other’s sovereignty, and national interests.
The President of Georgia thanked the President of Iran for supporting Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
As part of his visit to Tehran, today the President of Georgia will attend the funeral ceremony of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, in which leaders of the countries of the region, including Turkey, Azerbaijan, Armenia, and various countries of the world, will participate,” the information states.
