Nika Gvaramia: They put a millstone around Aleko Elisashvili’s neck, and it is no surprise that he lost his balance - we are making a big mistake by ignoring him because Georgian Dream’s labeling him a terrorist has affected us

"They put a millstone around Aleko’s neck, and given these circumstances, it is truly no surprise that he lost his balance. This man is a victim of the regime and deserves support, both he and his family," Nika Gvaramia, leader of the Coalition for Change, wrote on social media, commenting on the guilty verdict issued against Aleko Elisashvili.

According to Gvaramia, the opposition has been affected by Georgian Dream’s decision to label Elisashvili a terrorist.

"Aleko Elisashvili was sentenced to 13 years. In my opinion, we are making a big mistake by leaving this man without attention because Georgian Dream’s labeling him a terrorist has created a complex for us.

They put a millstone around Aleko’s neck, and in this situation it is absolutely not surprising that he lost his balance. This man is a victim of the regime and deserves support, both he and his family.

Aleko, I stand with you! Do not think that I have forgotten you or that I am not supporting you. See you free soon!" Gvaramia wrote.

For reference, politician Aleko Elisashvili, one of the leaders of the Strong Georgia – Lelo coalition, was found guilty by the court on charges of attempting to commit a terrorist act.

According to the decision of Judge Giorgi Gelashvili, the detained politician was sentenced to 13 years in prison.
