According to the National Environmental Agency, according to laboratory tests conducted by the agency so far, the water quality of the Black Sea is within the norm along the entire perimeter of the Georgian coast.
As stated in the information, the National Environmental Agency monitors the water quality of the Black Sea continuously, monthly, at 12 points.
“Samples taken from the Black Sea are sent for analysis to the National Environmental Agency’s accredited laboratory for atmospheric air, water and soil analysis, which is equipped with high-precision instruments and fully meets modern standards.
The tests determine hydrobiological and chemical parameters, including 13 heavy metals, total petroleum hydrocarbons, 16 polyaromatic hydrocarbons, as well as the concentration of other physicochemical parameters.
According to the laboratory tests conducted by the Agency so far, the quality of the Black Sea water along the entire perimeter of the Georgian coast is within the norm.
It is noteworthy that the National Environmental Agency, in accordance with the EU Marine Strategy Framework Directive, continues to actively work on improving the monitoring system.
