Irakli Kobakhidze - We are starting the expansion of Shota Rustaveli Tbilisi International Airport - the annual throughput of the airport will increase to 10 million passengers

We are starting one of the largest projects for the expansion and development of Shota Rustaveli Tbilisi International Airport, which is another important result of the consistent policy of the Georgian government, - Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze announced during his speech at the launch of the Tbilisi International Airport expansion project.

According to the head of government, in accordance with the agreement signed between the state and TAV Georgia, the investor will invest more than 150 million US dollars in the project, as a result of which the capacities of Georgia's main international airport will significantly increase.

“Today we are launching one of the largest expansion and development projects of Shota Rustaveli Tbilisi International Airport, which is another important result of the consistent policy of the Georgian government.

In accordance with the agreement signed between the state and TAV Georgia, which fully protects the interests of the state, the investor will invest more than 150 million USD in the project, as a result of which the capabilities of Georgia’s main international airport will significantly increase.

Tbilisi International Airport is one of the most important strategic infrastructure facilities in Georgia, which plays a key role in terms of our country’s economic development, connectivity, tourism and investment attractiveness. Modern and efficient infrastructure increases the country’s competitiveness, contributes to the creation of new jobs and strengthens Georgia’s position in the regional and global transport system. That is why our government pays special attention to the implementation of such large-scale projects.

After the completion of the project, the annual throughput of Tbilisi International Airport will increase to 10 million passengers. Our priority is not only to develop infrastructure, but also to create a modern, comfortable and international standard environment for passengers,” the Prime Minister said.
