Journalist Guram Rogava arrived at the courthouse, where the trial of the Special Task Department officer accused of violence against him was underway, with blank sheets of paper.
As Rogava explained, his case consists of blank sheets and the case contains only the confession of the accused special forces officer.
According to Guram Rogava, he was not allowed into the courtroom because he was told that the trial was closed.
“Judge Tamar Makharoblidze told me that the trial was closed and that despite the fact that I have the status of a victim, I would not be able to attend the session. This is very strange to me, my lawyer is investigating the legal aspects of what is the reason for this. I came to get acquainted with the progress of the case. They have to hide the fact that there is no evidence in this case. The City Court is actually the Ivanishvili Puppet Theater, where these puppets play different roles and put on a show”, he said.
For information, three employees of the Georgian Special Task Department have been arrested in connection with the violence against Zviad Maisashvili and Guram Rogava. All three defendants are charged with violent abuse of power, and one is additionally charged with unlawfully obstructing a journalist in his professional activities through violence.
