"The lawyer is trying to shift the focus to property, but we acquired everything during our cohabitation, so there is no basis for disputing this. It is already 50/50. This is complete absurdity," Sopio Sigua-Shatberava, the former wife of a former senior police official and former head of the Main Division for Combating Organized Crime at the Ministry of Internal Affairs' Central Criminal Police Department, told journalists.
According to her, Ioseb Sigua is seeking the cancellation of the restraining order, which is why a hearing has been scheduled at the Tbilisi City Court.
Sigua-Shatberava said that the request to cancel the restraining order was completely illogical.
"He requested the cancellation of the electronic monitoring bracelet, but his request was denied. Now he is only seeking the cancellation of the restraining order, but that is completely illogical. The bracelet was imposed precisely because of the restraining order.
I do not know how legitimate this request is, but a court hearing has been scheduled. The danger was always significant because he was constantly moving around me. The restraining order was issued precisely for that reason.
I have not initiated any legal dispute and there is no complaint from me. This is an attempt to cover up his own crime. In fact, he himself initiated a dispute against my mother, not against me.
The lawyer is trying to shift the focus to property in order to divert attention, but we acquired everything during our cohabitation. Therefore, there is no basis for arguing over it; it is already 50/50. This is complete absurdity," Sopo Sigua-Shatberava said.
For reference, Sopio Sigua-Shatberava initially stated on the program "Nodar Meladze's Saturday" that Ioseb Sigua had threatened to kill her, throw her from the 12th floor, put her in a barrel, and bury her. Later, Shatberava said that law enforcement officers had placed an electronic monitoring bracelet on Ioseb Sigua. He has also been issued a restraining order and has been restricted from carrying a firearm.
As for the defense's position, Ioseb Sigua's lawyer said that the allegations did not correspond to reality and that Sopo Sigua's aim was to obtain as much property as possible.
