Lasha Kapanadze, the lawyer of Giorgi Chigladze, who has been arrested in connection with an incident that occurred during a wedding at a hotel in Telavi, is sharing details of the incident on social media.

As the lawyer writes on social media, Giorgi Chigladze is the victim of a provocation organized by Russians.

According to the explanation of Chigladze's defender, a medical examination has been requested for Giorgi Chigladze.

“The whole story of what happened at the Agarani Hotel is as follows:

On July 18, 2026, from approximately 6:00 PM, we were at the Agarani Mamuli hotel in the village of Ruispiri, to celebrate a wedding. The event took place on the veranda on the first floor of the hotel. There were Russian-speaking guests on the 3rd floor of the hotel who started shouting “Горька” (kiss) at the King and Queen. Since the wedding guests did not pay attention to their shouts, they became irritated and started pouring liquids from the 3rd floor and spitting at the wedding guests. The spilled liquid also got into the music player on the veranda, causing the player to malfunction and stop playing the music.

A verbal argument broke out between the wedding guests and the guests on the 3rd floor over the incident. The wedding guests asked them to stop such behavior and go inside, while the guests on the 3rd floor started shouting in Russian at the guests that they were from the Papuan country and cursed the wedding guests. The wedding guests turned to the hotel administration for help in eliminating the problem. The administration representative also promised to respond accordingly. Soon after this fact, singer Aleksandre Mrelashvili turned on the music player. After about 10-15 minutes, liquid began to pour and spit from the 3rd floor again. Singer Aleksandre Mrelashvili stated that he could not continue working in such offensive conditions and left the place. Since the problem was not eliminated despite the promises of the hotel administration representative, Giorgi Chigladze (brother of the groom) went up to the 3rd floor and knocked on the door of the guests there. After opening the door, Giorgi Chighladze stood on the threshold, perhaps a little inside, and addressed the woman there in Georgian, saying that this behavior was unacceptable and that they had, in fact, ruined his brother’s wedding.

To this, the woman in the hotel room replied in English that she was in her room and demanded to speak to her in Russian. To this, Giorgi Chighladze replied in English that this woman was in Giorgi Chighladze’s country, i.e. Georgia, and demanded that she speak in Georgian or continue the conversation in English, to which the woman became more aggressive, grabbed Giorgi Chighladze by the throat and injured him.

Giorgi Chighladze shouted at her “You fucking whore.” Meanwhile, other women in the room also came out. One of them was holding a phone and recording a video. A verbal argument continued between Giorgi Chighladze and a woman staying there, and the woman grabbed Giorgi Chighladze by the throat with her right hand. Giorgi grabbed her hand and prevented her from hitting him. The verbal argument continued for a moment, during which the woman in the hotel room hit Giorgi Chighladze with both hands in the chest, causing his pain. Giorgi Chighladze, in order to repel her, hit the woman in the face, causing the woman to fall. At this, the other women in the room screamed, and in order to prevent the conflict from escalating into a larger conflict, Giorgi left the room.

It is worth noting that the Russian-speaking, presumably Russian, vacationers could not stand the Georgian wedding and Georgian songs on the veranda, which is why they organized a provocation and, as their behavior indicated, were under the influence of an unknown substance. Giorgi Chighladze is a victim of the provocation organized by the Russians. On July 18, 2026, Giorgi Chighladze was transferred from the Agarani Hotel to the Telavi District Department as a witness. As a lawyer, I attended the interrogation process, and due to the injury inflicted on Giorgi Chighladze in the throat area, I called an ambulance, who also recorded the fact of the injury. In addition, it has been requested that a medical examination be conducted on Giorgi Chighladze. After the interrogation, Giorgi Chighladze was arrested on July 19, 2026 and is currently being detained in the Gurjaani temporary detention center. The investigation is ongoing under Article 120 of the Criminal Code of Georgia. I would like to inform you that Giorgi Chighladze's rights are being protected by my lawyer Mariam Durglishvili and me.
