The Prosecutor’s Office will ask the court to impose bail as a preventive measure on Giorgi Chighladze, who was detained in connection with the incident in Telavi.
The Prosecutor’s Office told Interpressnews that the bail amount would be GEL 5,000, secured by detention.
The Telavi District Court is likely to consider the issue of a preventive measure for the accused, Chighladze, tomorrow.
“The detainee will be charged under Article 120, Part 1, and, as is the practice with crimes of this category, we will also request bail as a preventive measure, secured by detention, in the amount of GEL 5,000,” the agency told Interpressnews.
For reference, law enforcement officers detained Giorgi Chighladze over the incident in Telavi. An investigation was launched against him under Article 120 of the Criminal Code, which concerns intentional minor bodily injury. The offense is punishable by up to three years in prison.
During a wedding at a hotel in Telavi, foreign nationals staying at the hotel allegedly insulted people attending the wedding from the balcony of their hotel room and poured water on the equipment, after which the accused physically injured a female foreign national. The injured woman was taken to a clinic for appropriate medical assistance.
In addition, administrative proceedings have also been launched against singer Aleksandre Mrelashvili.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Mrelashvili was questioned as a witness at a police station in connection with the incident at the wedding. During the questioning, he refused to remain at the station for an extended period, after which he verbally insulted police officers and damaged a locker used for storing personal belongings.
