The prosecutor in the case of the incident that occurred during a wedding at a hotel in Telavi, Beka Natelauri, said that the prosecutor’s office has not made a decision to ban the women involved in the incident at this stage.

When asked how the prosecutor’s office intends to act if the women’s guilt is revealed during the investigation, the prosecutor noted that information provided by direct eyewitnesses to the crime is important for the investigation, which these individuals are also aware of.

“They have information that their testimony is important for the investigation,” the prosecutor said.

He also explained that the investigation is interested in all directions and if any crime or administrative violation is revealed on the part of anyone, there will be an appropriate response.

"The information provided by all the interviewed persons confirms the factual circumstances that the prosecution spoke about during the trial and has charged the accused.

Investigative actions are actively being carried out, including questioning the persons involved, each fact revealed during the investigation will have an appropriate response. The investigation continues and if any crime or administrative violation is revealed on the part of someone, there will be an appropriate response. The investigation is interested in all directions and we are actively conducting investigative actions in all directions, as soon as signs of a crime are revealed and we have the appropriate evidence, the perpetrators will be punished.

A number of video recordings have been requested within the framework of the investigation, including from the hotel facility, the said video recordings generally reflect the incident perfectly. The conflict was caused by an argument," the prosecutor said.

According to the prosecutor, law enforcement officers arrived at the scene of the incident as soon as possible after the call.

“An investigation is underway in this regard. According to the initiator, they contacted law enforcement agencies immediately after the incident was detected. The police arrived at the scene shortly after the call,” the prosecutor said.

As for the Telavi District Court’s decision, the prosecutor said that it fully agreed with the prosecution’s motion to grant bail as a preventive measure.

“The defendant is charged with committing a crime under Part 1 of Article 120 of the Criminal Code of Georgia. As with other similar crimes, the prosecution requested the use of bail in the amount of 5,000 GEL as a preventive measure against the defendant. The judge satisfied the prosecution’s motion in the part of the preventive measure and the defendant was granted bail in the amount of 5,000 GEL, however, detention was not used to secure the bail,” said Beka Natelauri.

For information, the incident occurred on July 18 at a hotel in the village of Ruispiri, Telavi Municipality. A verbal confrontation between wedding guests and Russian tourists staying at the hotel escalated into a physical one.

More specifically, Russian citizens insulted the wedding guests from the balcony of the hotel room and poured water on the equipment, after which the accused physically injured one of the women. In turn, the accused also indicates an injury to the throat.

Law enforcement officers arrested Giorgi Chigladze due to the incident.

He was charged under Part 1 of Article 120 of the Criminal Code, which implies intentional minor harm to health.

The aforementioned act provides for imprisonment for a term of up to 3 years.
