Tbilisi City Hall - Traffic on Rustaveli Avenue will be restricted for four months during rehabilitation - alternative routes will be available

According to Tbilisi City Hall, during the rehabilitation works on Rustaveli Avenue, all types of traffic will be restricted on the city's main avenue and part of Merab Kostava Street for four months.

According to them, the restriction will apply to the rehabilitation area from Tamar Chovelidze Street to Freedom Square.

According to the same information, traffic will be completely prohibited on Vaso Abashidze Street.

During the restriction period, alternative routes will be available:

"Vehicles traveling from Petre Melikishvili Avenue to Freedom Square will use Ivane Tarkhnishvili, Vasil Barnovi, Kote Makashvili, Polikarpe Kakabadze, Daniel Chonkadze, Amagleba, Lado Asatiani and Shalva Dadiani streets;

Vehicles traveling from Nikoloz Baratashvili Street to Merab Kostava Street will be able to detour via Revaz Tabukashvili and Sandro Inashvili Streets, First Republic Square, Giorgi Akhvlediani and Niko Nikoladze Streets;

Vehicles traveling from Mikheil Javakhishvili Street to Rustaveli Avenue will use Revaz Tabukashvili, Revaz Lagidze, Mari Brose Streets and Zviad Gamsakhurdia Embankment;

Aleksandre Griboedov Street - from Vano Sarajishvili Street to the intersection of Aleksandre Chavchavadze Street will become two-way.

During the rehabilitation period, public transport routes will also be temporarily changed. In particular, buses - N301, 305, 306, 308, 309, 310, 314, 326, 331, 337, 342, 344, 345, 352, 358, 388 and 397, as well as minibuses: N472, 532, 540 and 541, when moving from Melikishvili Avenue, will connect to Baratashvili Street via Heroes' Square and the right bank of the Mtkvari River, from where they will continue to serve passengers along the usual route.

In the opposite direction, Buses and minibuses from Baratashvili Street will return to Heroes' Square via the Mtkvari River embankment and will use the established scheme.

Buses N359 and N391 will operate via Heroes' Square and Galaktion Tabidze Bridge; Bus N378 will no longer go to Rustaveli Metro Station and will operate in the direction of Heroes' Square; Minibus N408 will start from Freedom Square and connect to Tamar Chovelidze Street from Melikishvili Avenue; Minibus N420 will no longer pass Rustaveli Metro Station and operate from Guram Rcheulishvili Street, connect to Melikishvili Avenue and continue its journey via Tamar Chovelidze Street; The N457 minibus will operate along Varaziskhevi, Melikishvili Avenue, Tamar Chovelidze, Belinski and Barnovi Streets.
