“In the country of Antsukhelidze and Romelashvili, how long are we going to remain like sheep?! Wake up, or they will control our dreams too!” — this is how Levan Khabeishvili, one of the leaders of the United National Movement, responded to journalist Vakho Sanaia being sentenced to 14 days of administrative detention.

In his statement, Khabeishvili wrote that what is needed is a struggle, not “professor-commentating.”

“They did not arrest Vakho Sanaia; they put shackles on all of you who think differently! How long are we going to remain such cowards?! How long are we going to let Ivanishvili humiliate us?! How long are we going to tolerate this?! The ‘Russian bashfulness’ at the wedding in Kakheti was an expression of the reality in which the regime is making us live!!

“Every day they spit in your face! Every day they spit on us, and only talkers and commentators respond from here. In the country of Antsukhelidze and Romelashvili, how long are we going to remain like sheep?! Wake up, or they will control our dreams too! Through silence and inaction, you are all complicit in this reality! All those who, out of fear and cowardice, accept slavery are no less responsible than the regime! Silence is a crime!

“Now they will fill television channels with ‘suited’ political commentators who will lecture us with their learned expressions. In the meantime, make sure you don't spill your ‘latte’ on your tie. What is needed is a fight, not professor-commentating. Solidarity with the incredibly talented and free man displaced from Abkhazia — Vakho Sanaia!” Khabeishvili wrote in his statement.
