Sometimes it happens that even the most illogical person's logic coincides with sound logic - the confrontation within the agents is deepening and this will heal democratic processes in our country, - Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze stated, responding to Mikheil Saakashvili's assessment of the Transparency International report on the list of political prisoners.
According to him, the more confrontation within the agents, the better.
“Sometimes it happens that even the most illogical person’s logic coincides with sound logic. As for the general assessment, we have been talking about this for a long time. The main thing for us is that the confrontation within the agents is deepening and this will make our democratic processes healthier. In Georgia, decisions on political issues, including those from the opposition, should be made by people who have a public mandate. This is about the confrontation between people who do not have any public mandate, although they have declared themselves as policymakers in Georgia. Of course, these people will not be able to shape Georgian politics in the future either. The more confrontation there is within the agents, the better. Let’s wait for the development of events,” Kobakhidze said.
For information, according to an updated report published by the non-governmental organization Transparency International Georgia, there are 91 political prisoners in Georgia. According to the organization, 91 people included in the list meet the criteria for political prisoners established by the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe. This refers to 91 convicted and accused persons who are currently in prison.
Later, the 3rd President of Georgia, Mikheil Saakashvili, stated that it was completely shameful that Transparency International Georgia did not include him in the list of political prisoners. According to him, the mentioned non-governmental organization has no authority and people consider it to be “dishonest grant-takers.”
In addition, the United National Movement party also issued a statement, noting that the “anti-Misha” campaign only damages the reputation of this organization.
