The Harvest Management Company LLC has announced a simplified state procurement worth GEL 50 million to purchase the goods and services required for the 2026 grape harvest.

According to the procurement documents, based on a March 12, 2026 decree of the Government of Georgia, the company was tasked with carrying out the measures necessary for the reception and processing of grapes during the 2026 harvest season.

The document states that, after private wine companies in the Kakheti region complete their purchases, the Harvest Management Company must purchase the surplus grapes remaining on the market and ensure their processing, storage and preservation.

According to the procurement documents, the purpose of the measure is to support winegrowers and ensure the full sale of the grape harvest on the market.

The Harvest Management Company explains that it is impossible to determine in advance how much grapes will remain unpurchased by private companies. Consequently, it is also impossible to determine the volume of goods and services required for their reception and processing.

According to the document, the harvest-related measures are divided into two stages. The first stage is the harvest itself, which lasts approximately one and a half to two months and includes the purchase of grapes remaining on the market. The second stage includes grape processing, the transportation of the resulting liquids, the rental of machinery and equipment required for distillation into spirit, and other services.

The procurement documents state that the main procurement item is grapes, while the quantity of containers, auxiliary materials, technical equipment, spare parts and various services required for processing will be determined based on the volume of grapes.

Meanwhile, according to the explanatory note, based on the practice of previous years, the company is expected to receive and process approximately 40,000–50,000 tonnes of grapes this year as well, using the rented production capacities of various private wineries.

The document also states that grape processing services will be carried out at 25–30 private wineries located in eight municipalities of Kakheti, whose alternative production capacities are practically nonexistent.

Under the simplified procurement procedure, the Harvest Management Company will be able to conclude contracts with suppliers without using a contract performance security mechanism and, if necessary, make advance payments without requiring a bank or other type of guarantee.
