Officers of the Central Criminal Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs have detained a person with a previous conviction on charges of illegal acquisition and storage of firearms, ammunition and explosive devices, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia reports.
According to the agency, during a search of the defendant's residence, law enforcement officers seized firearms and ammunition as evidence, including: 2 automatic firearms, 13 pistols, 544 cartridges and 2 hand grenades.
The investigation is underway under Article 236 of the Criminal Code, which provides for imprisonment for up to 6 years.
