Opposition politician Tsotne Koberidze says that creating new ministries is an "elite" way of removing officials from their positions.

Speaking on Palitranews' program *Resume", Koberidze said there are two common ways officials are dismissed in Georgian politics. According to him, in one case an official is made to submit a resignation citing health reasons, while the other, "more elite" method is to create a new ministry for them.

"There are two ways to remove someone from office in Georgian politics: you have them write a resignation saying they're unwell. The second option is more elite - one they just can't seem to let go of - they create a ministry of their own. We've seen this with Liluashvili and Tsulukiani. Why can't you simply tell someone you've hired that you're dismissing them? Surely you should explain why. We've seen a prime minister who was dismissed and then went to a monastery. We've seen people who were dismissed and later took their own lives. The second option is the best one - it amounts to giving someone paid leave by creating a ministry for them.

They came up with it as an institution of informal governance, much like the position of honorary chairman. In this case, they wanted an informal speaker. When he was in Parliament, he served as the parliamentary majority's speaker. Since he is no longer in Parliament, they gave him a title and rewarded him in the best possible way - they created a ministry for him. These are the flaws caused by informal governance."

Koberidze also commented on Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze. According to him, despite persistent rumors about Kobakhidze's possible dismissal, the prime minister is currently politically stronger than before.

In Koberidze's assessment, Bidzina Ivanishvili, the party's honorary chairman, is now more actively involved in political affairs than he was in the past, and responsibility for the government's current decisions ultimately rests with him.

"At this stage, Kobakhidze has actually been promoted. There are constant rumors about his dismissal, but compared to others, he is currently the strongest figure. He had control of the parliamentary team, and now he is also the head of the executive branch. Everyone who came before him has been arrested. I don't know how future changes will unfold, but the fact is that Bidzina Ivanishvili is now more involved in politics than he was before. Everything is now happening under his responsibility. You can no longer say, 'Maybe Bidzina doesn't know.' Today, he is fully engaged in politics."
