A loan agreement has been signed between Georgia and the Asian Development Bank, which provides for the allocation of financial resources in the amount of 250 million USD for the construction of the Tbilisi bypass.

According to the Ministry of Finance, the financing will be used for two sections of the Tbilisi bypass: Tbilisi Airport-Lochini and Lochini-Rustavi.

“The document was signed by the Minister of Finance of Georgia, Lasha Khutsishvili, and the Director of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) Permanent Mission to Georgia, Leslie Bearman Lahm.

The project envisages the construction of an approximately 18.9-kilometer, four-lane, median-equipped section of the Tbilisi Bypass. In particular, the financing will be used for two sections of the Tbilisi Bypass: Lot 4 (Tbilisi Airport-Lochini) and Lot 5 (Lochini-Rustavi).

The project is important for the development of the country's transport network. The new highway will relieve traffic in the capital, improve the safety of transit flows, and contribute to increasing the capacity of the country's transport corridors.

The signing ceremony was attended by the Minister of Infrastructure Revaz Sokhadze, the Minister of Finance Deputy Minister Ekaterine Guntsadze, Head of the Roads Department Levan Darakhvelidze, representatives of the Ministries of Finance and Infrastructure and the Asian Development Bank.

The project will be implemented by the Ministry of Infrastructure of Georgia, through the Roads Department,” reads the information.
