No one agrees with the charges, it is absurd! - This is illegality and injustice, - Merab Malania, the former Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs and father of Giorgi Malania, who was arrested on charges of aiding and abetting in the intentional infliction of grievous bodily harm, told journalists about the episode separated from the murder case of teacher Giga Avaliani.

For information, Giorgi Malania, the son of former Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Merab Malania, was charged under Article 25, 117, Part 3, Subparagraph “L” of the Criminal Code of Georgia (assistance in intentional serious harm to health in a group), which provides for up to 13 years of imprisonment as a form and measure of punishment. According to the prosecutor's office, with the help of Giorgi Malania, who was Giga Avaliani's student, Aleksandre Gabashvili, Giorgi Rikadze and Demetre Chikovani found out his [Giga Avaliani's] work and residence addresses, and his work schedule. They chose the place of execution of the intention and began surveillance. On October 1, 2025, according to a plan developed by Aleksandre Gabashvili, Giorgi Rikadze, and Demetre Chikovani, Aleksandre Gabashvili and Giorgi Rikadze attacked Giga Avaliani in a group, who suffered serious injuries, as a result of which he died in a medical facility on October 24, 2025.

Aleksandre Gabashvili, Giorgi Rikadze, and Demetre Chikovani have already been convicted for the above-mentioned crimes.
