According to the State Security Service, a Nigerian citizen living in Georgia and the coach of the Gardabani Football Club LLC, in order to help obtain a temporary residence permit in Georgia, signed a fictitious contract with a Nigerian citizen in the same football club, in exchange for which they took 3,000 USD.

According to them, the crime is punishable by up to 7 years in prison.

“As a result of the investigative and operational measures, the employees of the Anti-Corruption Agency of the State Security Service of Georgia, based on the decision of a judge, have arrested two individuals on the basis of a preliminary agreement on the fact of fraudulent appropriation of other people's funds by a group.

The investigation established that a Nigerian citizen residing in Georgia and the coach of the LLC “Football Club - Gardabani”, in order to assist in obtaining a temporary residence permit in Georgia, signed a fictitious contract with the Nigerian citizen at the same football club, in exchange for which they took 3,000 USD from him.

The investigation is underway under subparagraphs “a” and “b” of Part 2 of Article 19-180 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which provides for imprisonment for a term of up to 7 years,” reads the information.
