Ilham Aliyev - Azerbaijan wants to enter the European market with electricity, the only route for which is through Georgia and Turkey

According to the statement of the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, Azerbaijan wants to supply electricity to the European market, the only route for which is through Georgia and Turkey.

"In our region, there is no other country besides us that is provided with such a large supply of energy resources - be it oil and gas or electricity. By expanding our export capabilities to neighboring countries, we will also enter the European market. Currently we are already entering the European market with our oil and gas, but we want to enter there with electricity as well. Today, the only route is Georgia, Turkey, and then Europe. We need to expand these capabilities. In particular, the feasibility study for the Black Sea energy cable project is ready. However, the second transmission line will only strengthen our capabilities. Moreover, as you probably remember, in November 2024, together with the presidents of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, we agreed on laying an underwater power cable in the Caspian Sea and signed an agreement," Aliyev said.
