When a business decides to take a specific step and supply fuel to Abkhazia, this is their choice, which must take place in accordance with the law, and it did take place, - Georgian Dream MP Archil Gorduladze stated in response to a question regarding the supply of fuel from Georgia’s controlled territory into occupied Abkhazia.
According to Gorduladze, Georgian citizens live on the temporarily occupied territory of Abkhazia, and any of their needs must be met in accordance with Georgian legislation.
“There is the Law of Georgia on Occupied Territories, and there is the possibility for any product - whether food or other - to lawfully enter from Georgia’s controlled territory, which also requires having a special status.
I would remind the public that on the initiative of our team there exists the program ‘Step Toward a Better Future,’ within the framework of which a number of assistance programs are implemented, including healthcare programs, when people arriving from the occupied territory receive appropriate assistance free of charge. Of course, the state does everything to stand by our citizens. When a business decides to take a specific step and supply fuel to Abkhazia, this is their choice, which must take place in accordance with the law, and it did take place,” Archil Gorduladze stated.
