Irakli Gharibashvili: From today, full responsibility for the safety of myself and my family rests with Bidzina Ivanishvili and the entire government!

Former Prime Minister Irakli Gharibashvili, who is in detention, has released a statement and writes that “from today, full responsibility for the safety of himself and his family rests with Bidzina Ivanishvili and the entire government.”

As Irakli Gharibashvili states, he will release a lengthy letter tomorrow.

“This letter was sent to me on the instructions of Bidzina Ivanishvili. I tried and did everything so as not to take this step; unfortunately, they left me no other way but to stand against this dignity-destroying evil! This merciless cruelty, oppression/injustice, the dirty plan to destroy me and my family! Tomorrow I will release a lengthy letter and tell the public my truth! From today, full responsibility for the safety of myself and my family rests with Bidzina Ivanishvili and the entire government!” - it is noted in Irakli Gharibashvili’s letter.

In addition, Irakli Gharibashvili is also releasing the letter to which he is responding.

“Supporters like Dito Chubinidze, like Irma Inashvili, and the campaigns organized on social networks have raised very serious suspicions and have seriously damaged us. Very intensive work is underway on several cases, the probable results of which will be corruption charges. Therefore, there are two options for our action: 1. To litigate seriously and press to the end. 2. (The second option was offered to us by them themselves as a compromise solution) - to confess (to take upon ourselves) one of the cases, where everything will be done by agreement: the confession, the witnesses putting their hands on it, etc. In this case they offer a plea agreement for the same 5-year term, that is, as they explain, the sentences will absorb each other and again 5 years will remain. After release, you must not get involved in politics, and if you ‘decide to overstep,’ the corruption charge that you will have confessed to will be an insurance mechanism so that you do not think about returning to politics,” - it is said in the letter which, according to Irakli Gharibashvili, was sent to him on the instructions of Bidzina Ivanishvili.
