Prime Minister on Irakli Gharibashvili’s statement: It is a very problematic statement - problematic not for us, but problematic for himself; I will not make further comments based on ethical standards; he held this position before me

Irakli Gharibashvili’s statement is very problematic for him; I will not make further comments. Problematic not for us, but problematic for himself. I will not make further comments based on ethical standards. He held this position before me, - this was stated by the Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze, to journalists, thereby responding to the statement of the former Prime Minister Irakli Gharibashvili, who is in detention.

The Prime Minister notes that a specific verdict has already been delivered in Irakli Gharibashvili’s case and that “the rest is entirely a matter for the law enforcement agencies.”

“I have seen this statement. I do not know what is being talked about. I know one thing - that a specific verdict has been delivered. The rest is entirely a matter for the law enforcement agencies. I cannot make any comment at all on his statement, including for the reason that Irakli Gharibashvili held this position before me and, accordingly, from an ethical point of view it would also not be correct for me to assess his statement.

It is a very problematic statement; I will not make further comments. Problematic not for us, but problematic for himself. I will not make further comments based on ethical standards. He held this position before me. There are ethical standards that restrict my ability to make a statement on this topic,” Kobakhidze stated.
