Irakli Pavlenishvili: It is very unfortunate that instead of fighting Ivanishvili, people continue fighting Saakashvili; they think that by bringing Saakashvili down, they will become the main opposition figures

It is very unfortunate that these people, instead of fighting Ivanishvili, continue to fight Saakashvili. They seem to think that by bringing Saakashvili down, they will become the main opposition figures,” said Irakli Pavlenishvili, Chairman of the Governing Council of the United National Movement, commenting on yesterday’s statements about Georgia’s third president, Mikheil Saakashvili, by Nika Gvaramia, one of the leaders of the Coalition for Change, and Tamar Chergoleishvili, one of the leaders of the Federalists.

As Pavlenishvili noted, he does not understand how one could view it as pragmatic that, recently, they have been constantly making statements against the United National Movement and Saakashvili.

“It is very unfortunate that these people, instead of fighting Ivanishvili, continue to fight Saakashvili. They seem to think that by bringing Saakashvili down, they will become the main opposition figures.

I do not know how you can consider it pragmatic to spend the latter part of your careers constantly making statements against the United National Movement and Saakashvili. I do not know how appropriate this is when there is an Ivanishvili regime in the country that is fighting against the country in this way. At a time like this, I cannot tell you how fighting Saakashvili fits into any kind of logic or political pragmatism, leaving morality aside,” Pavlenishvili said.

It should be recalled that Nika Gvaramia, one of the leaders of the Coalition for Change, wrote on social media yesterday that “rolling around in the mud is Saakashvili’s choice, and I have no intention of kneading this filth together with him, entertaining spectators watching the spectacle, or making the ‘Kots’ happy.” According to Gvaramia, Saakashvili has told a thousand lies and deliberately and intentionally discredits everyone and everything. Gvaramia also wrote of Saakashvili that prison cannot serve as an endless justification or an all-encompassing indulgence.

As for Tamar Chergoleishvili, one of the leaders of the Federalists, she wrote on social media that Saakashvili has been “outside the opposition alliance for four months now” and that “the so-called politicians will also be washed away together with Saakashvili.”
