Of all people, Irakli Garibashvili should know well that the rights of every citizen are protected in our country, and all the more so those of his family - I still think that we are dealing with a misunderstanding, - this was stated by the Chairman of the Diaspora Affairs Committee of Parliament, Irakli Zarkua, to journalists, responding to the letters circulated from prison by the former Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Garibashvili, who is in detention.

According to Zarkua, “the investigation will establish what we are dealing with.”

“No matter how difficult it is for me to speak on this topic, and it truly is difficult, I still think that here we are dealing with a misunderstanding. Here we are dealing with some certain group that is trying to stage some kind of provocation. I was particularly struck when there was talk about security issues related to the family. Of all people, Mr. Garibashvili himself is a creator of that state which we created together - security and human rights. He was the leader of our team, of the country. Of all people, he should know well that the rights of every citizen are protected in our country, and all the more so the security and rights of his family. Proceeding from this, I think that we are dealing with some kind of misunderstanding and some attempt to mislead. It is difficult to speak on this topic, it is painful, and I still want to say that this is some kind of misunderstanding, some groups. They will probably investigate and the investigation will establish what we are dealing with,” Zarkua stated.
